When i searched the book, the picture came up for the 5th edition. But when i recieved the book it was the 4th edition. maybe i didnt read it well. but it fooled me, and i need the 5th edition for school :( so now i am out of my money and time when i need the other book.

This is a solid readers copy equal to most and exceeding the quality of a few scanned originals i own produced by Kessinger Publishing. My only complaints are that the page numbers are on the interior of the page, making referencing the index slightly irritating and 2 missing pages.

CONTENT: 1859 edition of Webb work with running commentary by Rob Morris (founder of O.E.S.) which is both informative and distracting.

I read the book and it gave me a great impact on my life and my path to success. It seems like Dr. Xa Xiong has put his best effort and his trust in what he wants to pursue and follow his dream. His marriage also reflects how blessed he is with his wife and five children. I would recommend this book to anyone from other countries who came to the U.S. to study or to become a doctor and have a supportive family. Ms. Choua Yang also had an incredible role to motivate her husband and support her children by doing whatever she could do. Overall I learned how important it is to realize that it takes the whole life of effort and faith to achieve success and blessings. Thank you for writing this book. It will plant dreams and wishes in the hearts of people. Blessings,

2 things can be equally true...

Let me qualify first. In my life, I've been diagnosed with depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social-phobia, agoraphobia, tick disorder, Tourette's syndrome, and a learning disability. The 18 psychotropic medications (2 of them twice) I've been prescribed made me worse, and cognitively, shut me down. How did I cure all of the aforementioned mental and cognitive illnesses AND 11 or so physical ailments? I cured them through good nutrition. Yes -- I said CURED twice, not lessened or managed. I also take large amounts of supplements, primarily B vitamins, vitamin C, and others.

Szasz is often associated with the COS, even though he's said otherwise, and he's an atheist. His organization does get funding, but here's the deal: The COS is known to engage in cultish behavior -- no argument -- but, although I'm not a member of COS and never would be, they are spot on about what they say about prescription drugs, mental illness, and B3. As Ralph Barbieri would say, two things can be equally true. (1) Is the COS a cult? Sure. (2) Is the COS correct on their anti-psychiatry stand? Hell yes!

Most doctors who believe in orthomolecular medicine will tell you that "mental illness" is truly about being nutrient deficient. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise, the COS, and the broken paradigms in our medical systems and teaching institutions and TV ads lead many to think mental illness is real and treatable (not cureable) with medications and talk therapy. Such a shame. I've done my homework, and I have my own experience to prove otherwise.

Ravi P. Agarwal received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. He is a professor of mathematics at the Florida Institute of Technology. His research interests include numerical analysis, inequalities, fixed point theorems, and differential and difference equations. He is the author/co-author of over 800 journal articles and more than 20 books, and actively contributes to over 40 journals and book series in various capacities.

Donal O’Regan received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Oregon State University, Oregon, U.S.A. He is a professor of mathematics at the National University of Ireland, Galway. He is the author/co-author of 14 books and has published over 650 papers on fixed point theory, operator, integral, differential and difference equations. He serves on the editorial board of many mathematical journals.

Previously, the authors have co-authored/co-edited the following books with Springer: Infinite Interval Problems for Differential, Difference and Integral Equations; Singular Differential and Integral Equations with Applications; Nonlinear Analysis and Applications: To V. Lakshmikanthan on his 80th Birthday. In addition, they have collaborated with others on the following titles: Positive Solutions of Differential, Difference and Integral Equations; Oscillation Theory for Difference and Functional Differential Equations; Oscillation Theory for Second Order Linear, Half-Linear, Superlinear and Sublinear Dynamic Equations.

Student's Perspective on the Text

My first grad ODE course used this book. The book contains a very concise presentation of the material. It has a bit of an odd layout, with each section covering a single lecture (42 total), but it works well as it is arranged more or less the way the material should be covered. Every section has exercises and the solutions or hints to nearly every problem are available, very good for learning from the book.

External material is covered in some sections (i.e. one lecture on some relevant bits of analysis before moving onto lectures which use these things, two lectures on linear algebra are before lectures on ODE systems). My professor did not devote full lectures to all of these, but having the material in the book allows for a nice refresher.

These are the aspects I liked:

-Concise
-Well-organized
-Low price
-Sections on relevant material from linear algebra and analysis
-Solutions or hints to exercises
-Few meaningful exercises (6-15 per section) and examples instead of many repetitive ones
