Great for beginners

I purchased this book to use in a class I was taking. I had no prior knowledge of HTML, but this book does an excellent job of introducing the reader to designing web pages. I found the chapters very easy to follow and the exercises were kind of fun as you got to practice what you just read about. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn HTML.

For both beginners and experts

I've taught HTML and e-commerce at the university level for about a decade now. This book is the best I have found. I use it as my personal reference. I require it for my classes.

It covers the essentials. It gives clear examples. It is organized in a logical order that works. It can be used by someone who has never tried to build a web page, and also has enough 'meat' so that those who have been building pages for years can find useful information and tips throughout.

I just wish I could find books on some of my other subjects that are as well written and organized as this.

praise:
1)you dont have to be in front of your pc to learn html from this book
2)handy dandy reference section!
3)covers all the basics adequately
4)gives appropriate stylistic advice. who cares if you can script if your web page is plain old ugly and unreadable?
5)puts things in a good chronological order
6)I learned to code from this book; its pages are bent from my continual re-referencing!
7)I like the Idea that there is a series. when I feel like I have time to learn c# or .net I can continue with a familiar source.
complaints:
1)index could be broader!
2)sometimes when I am looking for a specific bit of code it takes me a long time to find it. This book needs more headings.
If it had a broader index, more headings, and raw info in the margins for quick refrence it would be perfect.

Great to read during Holy Week

Characters of the Passion is a brief (72 page) book perfect for reading and reflecting through Lent or Holy Week. It is divided into seven chapters and focuses on the following people - Peter; Judas; Pilate; Herod; Claudia and Herodias; and Barabbas and the Thieves. It concludes with a brief reflection on the Scars of our Lord and how Christ can bring us hope if we but believe He is God and follow Him.

The most interesting chapter to me dealt with Herod, not the Herod who killed all the males of Israel when Jesus was a baby, but Herod's son - the one who had John the Baptist beheaded. We don't think of Herod too much when it comes to the Passion, but he was there. After Jesus is held before Pilate, he is then sent to Herod. Sheen points out that Herod was descended from Esau, makes an interesting comparison between the two, and explains why Herod acts the way he does. He then takes the time to answer one of the great questions of the Passion. Why did Jesus stand silent before Herod? I'd tell you, but you'll have to buy the book and find out.

It's amazing to read a book that is almost sixty years old and have the message still be pertinent to today. Fulton Sheen always seems to accomplish that though. His words prove timeless, because they contain truth, and truth is never timeless. There are a lot more characters that could have been discussed including Mary, Simon of Cyrene, and Joseph of Arimathea, just to name a few. Why they weren't, I do not know. But the fact that they weren't doesn't lessen the book at all. Highly recommended!

although i know many who loved this book, i just couldn't seem to get into it and even skipped a chapter. this was very unusual for me because i love bishop sheen.

Fantastic Anime!

Just finished both Season after buying them all. This is a new Anime Classic! KOKO! is one of my new top favorite badass ladies in anime. The Dub cast and japanese cast make this show really sparkle voice wise. At the time of this review the seasons are 30$ a piece which is a bargain. The extra features are much better on this release then most funimation releases you don't get on extras stream. I highly recommend buyin and supporting this release its worth the price for your collection. The anime has already been reviewed so go read that and see what you think but its a well crafted series done right so enjoy:)

This is a must have series!

I love this series! Jormungand is one of the best anime in my opinion! After watching the first season I had to buy the second season, I hope the third season will be out soon! This is about an arms dealer going around the world selling weapons and everyone wants her dead but her team is one the the top best in its class to protecting her, in the beginning she hires a boy solider to join her and her well trained soldiers.

One of the best [newer] animes out there.

I highly recommend this along with Black Lagoon for a perfect action-packed viewing experience.

Great story, great characters, overall decent animation - five star product all the way around.

The BD is nice too for its audio. No noticeable banding or upconversion pixelation. Definitely worth it - support Koko.

May the pox of Julienne and Hal never be cast upon your home.

I adored the quirky characters in this latest novel by C Michelle McCarty (thought I could never love any novel as much as her first), but Beyond The Pale hit my funny bone and my heartstring at the same time. This author's skill is an ability to breathe life into almost every character in her textured worlds, while our feeling deepen for lead players.

Beginning at a funeral in a fictitious Georgia town, BTP shows a wonderful bond between mother, Abbie, and teen son, Mick, despite Abbie never having a bond with her own mother, Phoebe. Although her mother has died, Abbie’s utmost goal is to obtain and open a locker given to her by her deceased father decades earlier, yet withheld by her vindictive mother. Humor begins on page one and is woven throughout from memorial service to opulent mansion, to fictitious town, Maryland, where Abbie and her son live in a trailer park. Once again, McCarty brings us characters you’ll attach to and either love or disdain.

A Story Full of Emotional Depth

Witty repartee and not-so-hidden sarcasm underline Beyond the Pale, a character-driven tale by author, C. Michelle McCarty. In this story, main protagonist Abigail (Abbie) Locke who, along with her fifteen-year-old son, return home to Brenhaven, Georgia for the funeral of her estranged mother. Abbie had never repaired the fractured relationship she had had with her mother, ever since her mother had asked her to leave as a pregnant and rebellious teenager. Abbie has made a life for herself in Maryland, working as a registered nurse and raising her son with all the love and compassion she had never received from her deceased mother. Her mother had always resented the very close relationship Abbie had had with her father until his untimely death when she was still a teenager. While the genre of Beyond the Pale is chick lit, it presents a wonderful character study into a diverse group of characters who cross Abbie’s life from her uptight, surgically-enhanced sister-in-law to the brother and son she loves very much. The author’s well-placed words speak from the heart, sometimes hidden behind Abbie’s stringent comebacks, but there’s no denying the depth of emotion at play.

Beyond the Pale is a 5 star!

Ms. McCarty has done it again! Being a fan of her first novel, I couldn't wait to read her newest release. And I'm definitely glad I did. She never disappoints. Drafting characters that can be funny, sarcastic, and yet intensely real, this novel is a gem. The descriptions and character development are done brilliantly, and the reader can feel the pain, the sadness, and the great rapport between the main character, Abbie, and her teenager son. It's so sad from the beginning, to feel her mother's grief, who never forgave her for the untimely death of her father, and withholds from her a treasured locker her father left for her which she could only recover after the mother's death. You have it all in this surprising novel: a bad mother who is more suitable as a bad stepmother, a repulsive, jealous sister in law, but also her nice extended family. Great dialogues, filled with witty and humor, give a special touch to this wonderful story. Not to be missed, especially if you love stories about strong, female characters. Two thumbs up!
