Story of a colorful politician who cared about our country

I bought from Amazon the 1948 first edition of the book. It had a personal card of Mr. Houston, Jesse H. Jones, a friend of Garner and Roosevelt, and a note. It was a gift from Jones to a friend. I am so proud to have this book. It is a little beat up, a corner bent, the dust jacket discolored, torn and worn, but I would not trade it for a new one.
This book tells the story of an honest Texas politician who served his country. Can you imagine that? An honest politician! His story is a fascinating one., and written by his friend, Bascom Timmons. Garner had burned all his private papers.
Garner's wife, Ettie Rheiner Garner, was a remarkable woman and a book on her can be purchased from the El Progreso Memorial Library in Uvalde Texas for $35. The title is Ettie Rheiner Garner, Orphan of the Blanco. Her beautiful 1870s stone Rheiner family home still stands by the Sabinal River, just off Hiway 90 outside Sabinal on the way to Uvalde.The Garners are the good kind of people who built our country, that gave us good governemt, and gave us hope for the future. That hope has dimmed now with today's greedy politicians.

About the Author

Martin and Olivia Olson are an actual father and daughter who play an evil father and daughter on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time.

Olivia is an actress, singer-songwriter, and recording artist who plays Marceline the Vampire Queen. As a songwriter, she wrote and sang songs for Disney’s Phineas and Ferb. Olivia also sang “All I Want for Christmas Is You” in the classic film Love Actually. She wrote most of Marcy’s Super Secret Scrapbook!!!

Martin is a comedy writer, songwriter, and poet who plays Hunson Abadeer, Lord of Evil, on Adventure Time. As a television writer, he has received four Emmy nominations. Martin is known for writing Phineas and Ferb, the New York Times bestselling Adventure Time Encyclopaedia (Abrams, 2013), and his satirical book Encyclopaedia of Hell (Feral House, 2011).

They live in Los Angeles.

Adventure Time: The Enchiridion and Marcy's Super Secret Scrapbook

This book is great. This is the Enchiridion from Adventure Time and Marceline the Vampires Scrapbook. The book was bigger than I thought it would be which is a great surprise. This book is about double the size of the Adventure Time Encyclopedia (which this book is a great companion to) and I like that half the book is the Enchiridion and the other half (just flip the book over) is Marceline’s Scrap book. Both halves of the book get a good number of pages to impress and expand on the ever growing world of Ooo.

I really like all the detail, you can tell this was made with love and fans of the show (Written by Martin and Olivia Olson who both play characters on Adventure Time, Olivia plays Marceline). There’s cool little things like taped down pieces, tons of little scribbles and sketches. I really like the parchment style scrolls and spell sections in the Enchiridion and the hand drawn sketches in the scrapbook. This book is really great for the price (under $20) this is a great book for any fan of Adventure Time, and can really be appreciated by anyone of any age. I didn’t want to show too many pictures and spoil the good stuff, lots of good jokes and Easter Eggs inside the book(s). The Adventure Time Enchiridion and Marcy’s Super Secret Scrapbook is mathematical and you have to get it, FULLY RECOMMENDED.

So you wanna be a hero....

Before I had this book, I didn't know what it took to be hero. Now I know I'll need a sword at least, and a healthy distaste for wizards.

Beware though, this book is not some novelty item. It is long and detailed with a healthy backstory of the Adventure Time universe. My daughter loves Marceline, so she got a big kick out of it.

Must have book for AT fans!

The Enchiridion half: It has all the humor of the show with a few nods to the overall mythology of the show thrown in. It doesn't give you insight into individual characters, but you have the sense it was written from the perspective of someone important from the AT universe long ago. Fans will love the scrap book half of the book because it gives you insight into Simon before he wore the crown, his time in the apocalypse with Marceline struggling against the crown's influence, Marceline's adolescence, and her time spent vampire hunting as seen on the show.
