Excellent for high school teachers and students

I use the ideas in this book in my mathematics teaching in high school. Students learn to think of the world as Euclidean through most of their instruction; Taxicab Geoemetry gives teachers a very straghtforward way to introduce non-Eucliean Geometry. Admittedly, this book is not thorough, and it is very open ended (which I consider to be positive). Nevertheless, for its intended audience it is outstanding.

Excellent for what it is

Before purchasing this book, realize what it is. This is a book about non-euclidean geometry. Specifically, a specialized form of non-euclidian geometry affectionately referred to as taxi-cab geometry. This is not a table top book, but is a book for mathemeticians and those interested in mathematics. Others need not apply (regardless of how interesting the topic is). This is an excellent introduction to non-euclidean geometry because it strips away common misconceptions about the nature of non-euclidean geometries. This text is excellent for grade school children and those who would like to branch into more advanced non-euclidean geometries like hyperbolic.

Fun little book!

The book is only $6.00 and it describes a non-euclidean geometry - it's hard to go wrong! This is really more of a workshop book - the math that's in it is pretty darn simple, yet, it encourages a certain mathematical exploration. So, if you're getting burned out on Calculus and the other heavy stuff, pick this gem up (Did I mention it's only $6.00?) and do what the original mathematicians did: Play with math.

My only problem with the book, is that some of the chapters could use some more detail - on the other hand, it does encourage the reader to think a bit more deeply about what's being presented.

interesting Christian perspective with a few practical tips.

Fascinating and empowering interpretation of,the scriptures as a basis for both spiritual and financial wealth. The practical tips at the end are nothing ends, and yet there is a way that they are presented that makes them easy and practical. Although I am not a Christian, the lessons here are universal and it's fascinating to see how the thoughts align with other religions' thinking about money and wealth.

I enjoyed this book immensely. I nodded as I read the truths discussed. It was filled with both biblical and practical advice on personal finance but speak to the reader about what True Riches really means. I particularly liked the last chapter which outlined a financial game plan that anyone can implement and the author’s emphasis on planning your life in order to create a sound financial plan.

Since Jeff and I write and speak on the subject of biblical economics; it was well worth the time to read another believer’s view on this topic.

This is a great read for anyone wanting to understand how to obtain True Riches and not just lots of money.

Alexey L. He is the author of mpC, the first parallel programming language for heterogeneous networks of computers. He has published over ninety technical papers in refereed journals and edited books and proceedings for international conferences. He is also the author of Parallel Computing on Heterogeneous Networks (Wiley).

Dongarra, PhD, is University Distinguished Professor of Computer Science in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Tennessee and serves as Distinguished Research Staff in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He is a Turing Fellow in the Computer Science and Mathematics Schools at the University of Manchester and an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science Department at Rice University. He specializes in numerical algorithms in linear algebra, parallel computing, the use of advanced computer architectures, programming methodology, and tools for parallel computers. His research includes the development, testing, and documentation of high quality mathematical software. He has published approximately 200 articles, papers, reports, or technical memoranda and is the coauthor of several books. He is a member of the IEEE and is the recipient of the IEEE Sid Fernbach Award and the first IEEE Medal of Excellence in Scalable Computing.
